Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 October 2026
The Chinese version of these terms is available here. Both versions have the same meaning; if they differ, the version more favourable to you applies.
1. Who we are
- Hanmargin (皮皮改作文, https://hanmargin.com, "the Service") is an AI-assisted essay marking tool for teachers of Chinese. It is operated by an independent developer acting as an individual ("we", "us").
- Contact: cyanming2016@gmail.com. We usually reply within 2 business days.
- By registering for or using the Service you agree to these Terms, our Refund Policy and our Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
- The Service is for teachers and education professionals aged 18 or over. It is not offered to students, and students may not open accounts.
- The Service is not offered in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. Please do not register or use it from those regions.
- Keep your email and Google account secure and do not share sign-in codes or accounts. Activity under your account is treated as yours.
3. Credits, prices and payment
- Credits (called 冻干 in the app) measure usage of the Service. AI features such as handwriting recognition, essay feedback, margin comments and chat use credits based on actual usage. Every deduction is listed in your credit history.
- Free credits: new accounts receive free credits and active teachers receive a weekly top-up. Current amounts are shown on the Pricing page and may change with notice on that page.
- Paid credit packs are not on sale yet and the Service currently charges nothing. The rules below apply once sales open; we will announce this in the app first.
- Credit packs are one-time purchases. They are not subscriptions and never renew or charge you again. Prices and credit amounts are shown on the Pricing page; the final amount, including any applicable tax, is shown at checkout.
- Merchant of Record: Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Paddle collects payment, issues receipts and calculates and remits applicable sales tax, VAT or GST. Your purchase is also subject to the Paddle Buyer Terms. We never see or store your card details.
- Delivery: credits are added to your account automatically, usually within minutes of payment. If they have not arrived after one hour, email us with your Paddle receipt.
- No expiry: purchased credits do not expire and can be used for as long as your account exists and the Service operates. Free and purchased credits share one balance and are deducted by actual usage.
- Nature of credits: credits can only be used within the Service. They have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash, withdrawn, transferred or moved between accounts. They are not stored value, an e-wallet or a virtual currency.
- Price changes: we may change pack prices or contents after announcing it on the Pricing page. Credits you have already bought are not affected. Changes to how many credits a feature uses are announced in the app at least 14 days in advance.
- Purchase regions: credit packs are not sold to billing addresses in mainland China, the EU, the EEA or the UK. Orders with such billing addresses are automatically refunded in full and no credits are added.
- Refunds: full refund for any reason within 14 days of purchase. See the Refund Policy.
4. Your content and acceptable use
- Essays you upload, student information you enter and comments you finalise belong to you and the relevant rights holders. You allow us to store and process them only to provide the Service to you.
- The Service helps teachers mark and discuss essays written by their own students. It does not offer essay writing, homework writing or sale of model essays, and must not be used for those purposes.
- Only upload essays you are entitled to process. Do not upload unlawful content, other people's private information or sensitive information unrelated to marking. Do not abuse, attack, automate against or resell the Service.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms and will explain why where reasonable. For accounts terminated this way, unused purchased credits are refunded pro rata, except in cases of fraud or abusive chargebacks.
5. AI output and teacher judgement
- Comments, margin notes, typo marks, lesson outlines and chat replies are generated by AI and may be wrong (for example, misreading similar-looking handwritten characters). They are suggestions only. Review them before use. Final assessment is the teacher's decision; do not use unreviewed AI output as student grades.
- Please keep the "AI-generated" labels in the app and in exported files so students, parents and schools know how AI was involved.
6. Availability, shutdown and liability
- The Service is provided as is. We maintain and improve it continuously but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features may change; major changes are announced in the app in advance.
- If we decide to shut the Service down, we will give at least 30 days' notice, leave time to export your data, and refund unused purchased credits pro rata for purchases made in the preceding 12 months. Unused purchased credits are the smaller of your balance at shutdown and the credits bought (and not refunded) in those 12 months.
- To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from use of AI suggestions, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the preceding 12 months. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer or data protection law where you live.
7. Closing your account
- You can delete your account at any time under 我的 → 个人设置 (Me → Settings). All credits, including purchased credits, are then forfeited and cannot be restored. If you want a refund, request it under the Refund Policy before deleting your account.
8. Changes and disputes
- When these Terms change we update the date above. Material changes, such as to charges or data use, are announced in the app in advance and, where needed, we will ask you to accept them again.
- If you have a dispute, please email us first so we can resolve it together. These Terms do not affect your statutory consumer rights.
